6.21 Layout
change I think I'll keep this one. It's soothing, and it somehow goes with the
night vibe of my header up there. In case anyone cared, the header is a street shot
of Seoul, South Korea at night.
6.19 layout change No one saw the first layout, but
that doesn't matter.
6.18 launch Shinja is on the Net! Content is
basically limited to several mp3 files and a few profiles, but I'm still working on it!

7.5.02:
Napster is dead. Audio Galaxy just bit the dust (okay it's on life support, but lets
face it- how many artists can we get to let you freely distribute their music?).
Peer 2 Peer file sharing. The music industry hates it. We love it. With
the systematic crushing of all our favorite file sharing sites, we are forced to find new
ways of file sharing. Now what's worse- a site dedicated to file sharing, or
hundreds of thousands of users who do it anyway, passing out passwords to their Yahoo!
Briefcase, or just sticking files anywhere they can find space? Now, not everyone is
going to be honest about file sharing- I know people who have a collection of hundreds of
mp3s, but they never intend to own the actual cds the mp3 came from. I'm
different. Like so many people out there who have been burned (buying a cd that only
has one or two good songs on it), I'm on a try it before I buy it basis. And for 95%
of the mp3s I own, that has been the case. In my opinion, the 30 second samples are
often like the trailer to a movie. That thirty seconds is supposed to tease you and
make you want to see the movie. But what if you actually see the movie, and it
sucks? You want your money back. Well, you can't get your money back, if the
cd has been opened, so you're stuck with a crappy investment. However, if you were
able to hear whole songs from the album, you can make a better determination on whether
you want to purchase the cd or not. I call it the single factor. Let's say you
can buy a single of a song for $4.00 (some places singles cost more, some places
less). If you've previewed the album, and it only has one song you like, just buy
the single. But if you like at least three songs off the album, go ahead and buy the
album. It's cheaper in the long run, instead of buying the individual singles
(that's assuming every song you like would be released as a single). So, since some
of us don't have the time or transportation to go sit in Tower Records or Borders (or
whichever store near you that will let you preview a whole album, not just snippets), our
only alternative is mp3s. And quite honestly, I think mp3s are introducing more
people to artists or genres they normally wouldn't know about. After all- had I not
been introduced to Shinhwa and JTL via mp3s, this site would not be here.
6.22: (June 21, 2002) North Korea left out the name of South
Korea while introducing the 16 finals teams for the 2002 Korea Japan World Cup.
"The Korean Central Broadcast released the fixture of 16 teams for the World Cup
finals last week ahead of broadcasting the match," the government official in Seoul
said Friday. "But the place where South Korea should be indicated was left
blank."
Another state-run television network Central TV also had the announcer introducing just 15
countries for the 16th finals while broadcasting German and Paraguay on Thursday added the
official. "It doesn't matter really," one of the defectors living in Seoul
said. "People back there are quite used to that kind of trick and naturally assume
blank corner means the South anyway."
Russian news agency Interfax on Wednesday on the other hand delivered words of
congratulations from North Korean embassy based in the country for South Korean soccer
team's making it to 16 finals. "Sports was always a thing of delight to people
but this victory made us especially happy," one of the North Korean embassy members
who spoke in conditions of anonymity said.
The same member also said Seoul and Pyeongyang's soccer team has also agreed to hold
friendly match this coming September stressing plans for soccer exchange between the North
and the South. The official is reportedly one of the ranking officer in the embassy.
North Korea has been shunning from airing the sporting matches of South Korea, the United
States and Japan as it is detrimental to the nation's morale. Meanwhile South Korea has
recently made to eighth finals Tuesday defeating Italy by 2-1. -welcome.korea.com

Webmaster. That word
used to strike fear into the hearts of any novice Net surfer. What's a
webmaster? Wow! How can I do that?? Now, it's really just the name
given to anyone who has a presence on the Internet, regardless of how elementary his/her
site is. They were able to type on a page, and publish it, so they must have some
skills, right? Well, I am a webmaster. It's taken me nearly a week to get all
this crap looking even remotely decent, so I can post it, and I've barely scratched the
surface. I've just gotten *some* of the korean content up, and I still have the
other countries to do. *sigh* Bear with me peeps. This ain't easy. |
